Anyone have some good info on this development on Lberty Station in Point Loma? It was not developed to the extent it is now. Some of the homes are reasonably priced and I like the area.

As I mentioned in another thread, the schools associated with this area are decent, so is there something in particular I should investigate further. It appears there are families there and it looks like infrastructure is being improved or added continuously.

Any info from you all that live near by?

It's nice, albeit generic and very crowded and noisy with airports and traffic. Point Loma neighborhoods nearby are nicer. The NTC park in Liberty Station is a gem. IMO it's a better place to have a couple blocks away than to live in.

Mahalo, I love some of the neighborhoods in Point Loma, but they all don't fit my financial plan to pay cash or close to it when I get there. Whereas Liberty had some townhomes that were in my price range.
I may have to join the masses of mortgage payers. I'll keep looking. I've seen some places in your neck of the woods, in my range as well, but need to ensure the schools would be Lewis and Henry.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I was told by a realtor when we first moved to San Diego that Liberty Station was primarily inhabited by retired military. This had no bearing on our decision to move into that particular area, although I think it's worth mentioning (or further investigation) in case you are looking for a specific demographic.

I'm retired Navy! However, my 11-year old grandson lives with us so I need more of a family environment for him. And if truth be told, I'm not ready to spend the majority of my time with liver spots!! Okay, okay send me hate mail, but I'm just voicing my preference.

No hate mail from me - hence the reason I mentioned "in case you are looking for a specific demographic." I always feel you need to be comfortable with your neighbors and only you can define that.

Here is a description I found on Wikipedia of the neighborhood:
Liberty Station, San Diego, California - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Residential district
The residential district of Liberty Station has two main sections, one section for military housing and the other a residential community developed by the McMillin Corporation. The military housing area is not properly part of the Liberty Station development and is still owned by the U.S. Government. It includes 500 units, mostly townhomes, and also features children's playgrounds and sports facilities. The exterior of the housing is in a Spanish architectural style in keeping with traditional San Diego.
The civilian residential community includes townhomes, row homes, and single family homes. In 2007 it was named by Money magazine as one of the best places to retire in San Diego. However, people of all ages live in the community, young families as well as retired couples.

Nice, but as Sassberto said it's noisy and rather bland.

I will say that the Trader Joe's there is about a million times nicer than the one in Hillcrest.

Love that trader joes. As far as liberty station... There is bit of a Truman Show vibe going on.

Even scarier on Sundays with all "The Rock" faithful throngs.

That Trader Joe's is awesome- I will gladly drive the extra couple of miles to not be jammed in like a sardine in a net at Hillcrest.

TJ's there is nicer and bigger, but not worth the extra drive (if one has one) from Hillcrest imo.
