Filner has lost the people, one way or the other he's through.
It's resign or recall, and he should feel lucky if he doesn't end up behind bars.

10News - New 10News/U-T San Diego poll shows 69 percent of San Diegans want Filner to resign - 10News.com - News

69 percent say Filner should resign, 24 percent say he should remain in office and 8 percent are not sure.

The percentage of respondents who want Filner to resign is up 10 percentage points from an earlier poll released July 12.

The new results come less than 24 hours before 10News sources say county Democrats will push for a do-over following their last vote to support due process for the mayor.

Sources tell 10News the party is sweating the thought of a recall election and intend to go for a supermajority to condemn Filner's behavior.

Survey USA CEO Jay Leve said during a Skype interview that 7 out of 10 people is a huge indicator.

"And then if you ask those people ... what if the mayor does not resign? You've got an overwhelming percentage that say they would then back a recall, so the mayor is a bit damned if he does … and damned if he doesn't."

10News - Friend of Mayor Bob Filner, ex-fiancée claims couple had 'open relationship' - 10News.com - News

A friend of Filner's former fiance said the couple were very open about how they had an "open relationship". It's kind of sour grapes for her to agree to an open relationship then get mad when he sees other women. IMHO.

And we'll see what the numbers look like in 7-8 months when any recall vote actually happens.

Well, I think if they did it's irrelevant on everything else going on. Also, you have to remember Filner met her in the first place because she was lobbying for some cause and he requested a private meeting with her and then asked her out. LOL. So that seems to follow his regular M.O.

I see the local Democratic Committee is going to meet again on this issue. Last time they were split 50/50 on support vs resignation. I bet those numbers are going to change in favor of resignation now.

I don't know about that. Even in an "open reslationship" each partner has a certain expectation of respect. Her complaints were of his disrespectful behaviour towards her.

Exactly. I've had several friends (both men and women) that have open relationships and are free to date other people. They are NOT engaged, so that part is a bit strange. But the important point you have to keep in mind that dating in an open relationship is MUCH different vs. sexually and verbally abusing women.

It's really night and day and that's why this part of this has no bearing over the Filner situation. What DOES have bearing is the fact that several credible women are coming forward claiming vile and disgusting and illegal sexual harassment towards them by Mayor Filner. That's the problem here.

That can NOT be tolerated in ANY civilized or even non-civilized society.

For that matter anyone harassing anyone based on their sexual orientation, race, religion, etc. It's just plain wrong. Plain and simple. Mayor Filner has done plenty of really great things in his life. But like many things... past performance is no guarantee of future results. And Filner is a good example of that. This is 2013!

IMHO, anyone that continues to support Mayor Filner is saying they are ok with these types of actions in 2013, which is quite pathetic to me.
