No one rents a beachfront home in Mission Beach for 5k/mo. They either rent vacation condos for 2500/week or live in a 300sf shack for 2k/mo.

You either need to scale down your expectations to live in a poorer area like PB with broke college kids and tourists or scale up your expectations and move to a wealthier area like North County or La Jolla or Coronado where you can find luxury beachfront homes.

You are really looking for something like Venice or Hermosa or Huntington beach. Luxury and crowded beach lifestyle are the domain of Los Angeles, not San Diego.

Be careful of PB. I used to live on the boardwalk in PB for around 2k/mo. You will feel like you're in a fishbowl as everyone will look into your place. You will see some homeless people often. The salty air will corrode everything in your apartment from your electronics to your car.
For your budget, hopefully you will find something nicer. Definitely get some parking with your apartment.

HAHAHA so true! i couldn't help staring into the awesome houses and condos along the boardwalk everytime i passed by. There were even a few places that had floor to ceiling glass windows and no matter how hard i tried, it was impossible to resist the urge to look inside. I mean, that's like walking by a completely naked hot girl and pretending not to be at least slightly interested.

Yeah that is a good area, there are some good bars/cafes near there and you're less than a mile from Garnett Ave and Grand Ave's where a lot of the bars/restaurants are centered. Lots of people go by daily along the boardwalk in that area.
