Hello,

I have a summer internship in Redwood City (specifically, Redwood Shores) from mid-June to mid-September I can spend up to $1,400 monthly. I will have a car.. How should I go about finding places to rent? I've been trying Craigslist for the past month to no avail. I could broaden my search to San Bruno and the San Francisco area, but would the commute be too great? I have to be out of university housing by noon on the 14th, so I'm getting pretty stressed here.

Thanks, and I really appreciate your help

Edit: What would the commute from Palo Alto to Redwood Shores be like? Would doing it regularly be a pain?

Look up BT Properties. They have lots of apartments, $1400 is a good amount. The Peninsula is very expensive. I lived in Burlingame but recently moved to Redwood City. The commute from PA to Redwood Shores isn't bad. Around 4-6 the 101 is very heavy in traffic. I take Caltrain most of the time.

A few years ago I found a studio with a huge walk in closet in Burlingame for $1100. It was from Heritage Realty. They are okay to rent from but will try to cheat you out of your deposit when you move out. Just a heads up. Good luck!

Unless you absolutely must live alone you may want to look into roommate and sharing situations. You will get a better deal for your money and may meet some cool people along the way.
