To an extent, though the further north you get in the state, the more they rely on local reservoirs. Even as close as Marin, they mainly rely on local reservoirs rather than water from the Sierra.

But of course you are right, the two are seldom de-coupled. Usually big rain on the coast means big snow in the mountains. And of course rain is very important for ecology (e.g., our natural landscape). If we don't want our backyard to start looking like Las Vegas we need some rain locally! =P.

We really didn't have any snow in the mountains this year either. It's been a dry year.

It rained today morning! We got the amount of rain that we normally get in a whole September just this morning.

For sure! Only thing that worries me is last September the same thing happened, and we know how that went...

Here's hoping for a wet winter though!
