i am so sad to see that the closest library is 8 miles away we like to use the library frequently but driving to Venice all the time seems a bit much. Ok, laugh at me - this is pretty RURAL here (osprey) compared to what I am used to lol

So... i've also heard that Venice has an older population so that may not be the library for us anyway. Which library would you say is the nicest, has the most activities for kids, largest collection, etc. I figure if I have to schlep I may as well make sure it's worth the trip!!

thanks!!

Actually Venice isn't too bad for the kids. I used to bring my little one up there because they had really good kids programs. I prefer Selby to all the libraries in the county but that's kind of a drive from where you are.

Selby is a drive (for me too since we live in Osprey now as well) but it is the best. Gulf Gate is OK but it's an older population.

Selby is definitely the best. Plus it's right downtown with all that great stuff!

I am not sure how old your little ones are but I know they have events at the Nokomis Community Center for kiddos, which is pretty close to you.

I've been to the one on Fruitville as well as Gulf Gate. Fruitville location is much newer and more kid friendly.

Venice & North Port had a lot of kid's activities this summer. Agree, Gulf Gate has the older population. Fruitville is the one we go to all the time & it is wonderful. Many kid activities and the reading garden is beautiful. Highly recommend a visit.

Yeah you're 30 minutes from the NP library.
