We are looking for a place to open an ice cream shop with foot traffic. We'd love to be close or on the water. Any suggestions?

Well, every place that I can think of with foot traffic already has an ice cream shop:

St. Armand's=Kilwins & Ben & Jerry's
Siesta Key Village=Big Olaf
Bradenton Beach=Big Olaf, Joe's Eats & Sweets, Dips
Island of Venice=Breslers
Boca Grande=Loose Caboose

For some reason I can't think of any ice cream shops in downtown Sarasota. Surely there has to be, right?

Look at how many have closed down Tread warily do your research ! Nokomis Groves has a successful business and been there years. Coldstone closed down !
On Main Street there is an ice cream franchise shop opposite the cinemas

I don't know of one. That might be a good place to open one. The beaches are loaded with ice cream shops already -they all seem to do well, also.

I suppose the best place would be as close to the beach as you can get. Big Olaf's on Siesta seems to do a pretty good business year round. I can't recall an ice cream shop by Englewood beach. Maybe there is one but I can't remember one.

I'd research downtown Sarasota, Siesta and Englewood Beach area.

Nokomis Groves has a good little business but it's not a "walkable" area.

There's not one...unless you count the McDonalds drivethru---which I actually do go through every time I go to the beach to get a cone (which doesn't REALLY count as ice cream in my book).

When I was a kid, there was Baybreeze Dairy Freeze and Twistie Treat, but they're both gone. However, there ARE 4 ice cream shops in the immediate Englewood area, but not in a "walking area" nor are any of them close to the beach.

I remember Twistie Treat where the shop was in the ice cream cone. I'd jump on the Englewood Beach location then.

Venice has the mad cow place on 41, dont like it at all, and then Bresslers on the island, like it. A new place opened next to taco bell Bills or something? If you open near me you will do fine
