Florida does seem a lot less expensive regarding housing.

In Texas Our 2000 Sq Ft home has property taxes of $4,100. We are outside of the city so this does not include city taxes which would increase our property taxes by about $1,000. It also does not include HOA, CDD (which we don't have here) or garbage. **Property taxes are capped at a 10% raise in property value per year. So far, each year we reach the 10% max.

Trash is $34 per month.

Electric is kept at 68 heat and 78 a/c. Bills run an average of $147 per month. We have no pool. House is all electric.

Water is $62 per month with no sewer.

Flood insurance is $390

Homeowners insurance is $900

Auto insurance is $937 annually. (2012 & 2004 Ford)

If you have 2004 Ford, it's possible a new car is in your future within the next few years. Make sure that's in your budget.

FYI..Some auto insurance carriers give a discount if you take a defensive driving course. Mine carrier is GEICO and they give 10% discount for the class if you are age 50 or over and it's good for 4 or 5 years. It's an online class that takes a few hours to complete and something like $20 for the class.

In Sarasota county, garbage service (and recycle/yard waste) is already paid via your property taxes. They even take large items.

Thank you. We do have another car in our budget. I have a savings account that is funded for it, as well as increased insurance costs. I'm not so sure it will be a Ford this time.
