5. Discuss which revolting fast food dump has a "new sandwich" with the other LaVerne and Shirley rejects from down at the plant.
I thought it was supposed to be funny, wasn't it? And what on earth does remarks about Wisconsin have to do with Southern Hospitality.

Most of us have ignorant slobs amongst our kinfolk and neighbors. We love them anyway. We even have them at social gatherings. Just don't like people looking down their noses at them.

I suppose I just took his comment the wrong way. I just don't want to deter anyone from exploring our wonderful city because a few people on a forum might be saying something to offend or upset anyone and them end up getting the wrong idea about the people here.

Can't we all just get along!? haha

Hey...you have a good sense of humor...is everyone in WY that talented? Maybe I should be considering Cheyenne, Casper, or the Hole??? Which town is better for an old doltish, meth smoking, leave raking, fast food eating factory worker? (I have a garage, dont do the ice thing)

Besides, I don't usually react to people that refer to my mama's kin as lazy, illiterate slobs by handing them an iced tea or a mint julep.

You must be illiterate like yo momma though...because if you read what I wrote...I said I DONT NECESSARILY BELIEVE THE STEREOTYPE.
HOWEVER, the more threads I read on this quickly becoming boring retarded website, Im begining to believe alot of things I didnt before.

....."I was not impressed with the natives either...they seemed to fit the stereotype of southerners....lazy, illiterate slobs. Please dont take offense by that stereotype, I dont necessarily believe it..."

Oh, we read it. And I think we got exactly what you meant. I think you would be much happier on another planet. Try for an uninhabited one. Take along a full length mirror for company.

Oh my...

I think I understand what the original poster was trying to get at... you see, my dear wonderful husband grew up in Los Angeles and he sincerely had no clue that there was indeed a HUGE difference between "southern" and "redneck"

Years later, he truly enjoys Southern Culture, but c'mon guys... you know that "the South" is packed full of... shall we say "undesireables"

I grew up in Florida, but my family is very much Southern -- I deeply love Savannah and have visited the city numbers of times -- and I loved every visit. Savannah is absolutely gorgeous -- packed with true Southern Hospitality, the city runneth over with history and culture -- diversity, gorgeous architechture, etc, etc -- the best food in the South too

"Undesireables" can be found anywhere and everywhere -- some cities have a deeper density of morons -- its just the way it is. I don't feel like Savannah is one of those cities, as a rule though.

We considered moving there, but decided against it for a number of reasons (none of which have to do with the local populace though). It was #2 on our short list though -- I do love Savannah...

But really -- you've got to understand where this original poster was coming from -- some places are just foul... really. I loved Orlando because it was so well kept, so clean, such a feeling of community... but Jacksonville made me throw up a little in my mouth -- hahahah -- just dirty -- on so many levels. Lower income communities (just statistically speaking) really don't take much pride in their living conditions. That's not a low blow or meant as an insult... it simply is the way it is.

Some areas of Savannah -- I avoided, specifically for that reason... there was nothing to see but filth. Same with New Orleans -- although I do very much love that city as well...

Original Poster -- the "locals" in Savannah have always been kind to me -- they take pride in their city and their culture -- from all I have seen... but of course, there are pockets to avoid, just like anywhere. Overall I think the srea is very clean and kept up -- diverse, interesting, historical, beautiful -- and charming.
