You need to see a 2007 movie called "The Man From Earth" to better understand why your goal is not as practical or as realistic as you might think it is.

In summary, have you been able to retain/recall everything you learned and every place/thing you explored?

Your mind is still the same mind. Heck in modern times, most people are using less and less of their memorizing skills to improve arguably one of to most important functions of the brain.
Hardly anyone memorizing phone numbers, their card numbers or even anyone's birthday! When was the last time you saw an adult do serious calculation in their head as oppose to reaching for a calculator aka stupifier?

Looks like a interesting movie but it's just a movie. Living "forever" will not be a magic pill but a bridge to a bridge to a bridge. Also today we don't do those things you talk about due to technology and once we merge with it ( become transhuman) then we will have the brain capacity to remember everything.

You don't need technology to become "transhuman", some good narcotics will do just fine but from your responses, I am guessing you already knew that.

I think you are thinking that kinda thing (Johnny Mnemonic) is actually going to work fill in all the shortcomings of being human and then live like that forever presuming you will still feel and perceive things the same way?

How would you feel about seeing everyone you know and love die one after another while your so-called transhuman self is going strong year after year? I think we have seen this dark scenario visualized in some of the vampire flicks as well as the Highlander series.

If anything you have (own) can be replaced instantly without any hassle or there was an endless supply of, would you value anything just as much? Something you could never lose? For instance Your life?
Most people do not take action till that very last moment, we love to procrastinate and postpone things that can be had or achieved any given moment. So, are you certain you would really learn new things and explore new places or would you say "What the heck is the rush?"?

Just wondering...

At 42 I have already seen people I loved die but in the future it will not only be me who lives "forever". I mean I am not special with special powers just where society will be. its like 100 years old I would be old at 42 but today its midlife that will just increase and dramatically.

Again things might change on how I perceive things but again that is life always changing.

People will have to get more proactive and I can see not being in a rush to see things as I am already getting that mentality. I mean since I know what is coming I do not see 42 as midlife but still in my "youth" learning things and trying to figure out the new way life will be.

Exactly! Age is really just a number and people are as young as they make their minds up to be!
I am a late boomer too. I am couple of years older but many say I look a decade younger. I don't take things seriously, including life. Never enjoyed a single thing that I took seriously, not one! You do what you need to, give your mind and energy but never dwell over issues and road blocks.

That said, can you imagine what the world population be like in a decade or so if average life span was 200? Heck, even 150? Retirement still kick in at 65? I highly doubt it! Government couldn't handle paying out that much to that many people for that long! We got a ton of freeloaders enjoying their government cheese when they should be working even now!

Would more and more people lose it driving on freeways around Los Angeles? You betcha!

I am trying to see how life for everyone would improve if an average person lived another 50 or even 30 years more and I can't come up with a single beneficial factor.

More than the planet resources running low, the increasing population is a much bigger concern, for everyone and for the planet itself. As far as the planet is concern, our species is doing only the following 3 things: consume (carelessly), create biodegradable and not-so biodegradable waste and reproduce.

Our relatively short lifespan is probably the only good thing for everyone, including the planet.

Transhumans, huh... One of the Elite plans to live forever.... None of you here, OP included, will get on that list anyway. Not enough money.
OP, you ever thought about this:
Teleportation. A human enters a teleporter, it's information is being sent to a receiver and a human walks out of receiver.
You understand, it's not the original human, but it's copy?
Same goes for "moving your mind" or whatever that makes you a human into a digital realm. You will be gone. IT will exist, but it will be not you. Copy.
Ever tried watching HER? Very dangerous movie.

The thing is all information technology is advancing exponintially so we will have ways to deal with the problems you talk about that seem like science fiction.
