Meh I don't particularly care that much. You can turn the GPS off on your phone as it does suck battery power. I'm not doing anything super illegal though so I don't have much to hide. In fact I must like the idea that people are who they say they are, having the gold star on their driver's license, etc. I'm sure certain people can still forge all this information for a price though.

No you can't turn off the GPS on your phone completely. You can prevent apps from using it, but you can't stop the Government or Police from using it to track you. The 911 portion of the GPS can not be turned off, unless you turn off the entire phone. If your phone is on, any Police Department (or Government) can ping your phone, without you knowing it, and show up within feet of where you are. FACT, not fiction.
Its not a "secret." most of the apps on your phone ask for permission to track you, in the fine print. You use the app, and it tracks you. You can't turn off the GPS part that 911 uses to get your exact location. The Government uses that portion if needed, and you will not even know how they found you.
Think about it. Even if they want to track me how are they ever going to find anything? You have to understand how much information they have to store. Sifting through it to peek in on someone like me is ridiculous.
What about dumb phones? Are they also susceptible?
Some dumb phones have GPS capability. Those could be tracked in this program.
