This thread should be officially considered done. A shakeup is needed, and we will likely see it after the season comes to a forgetful close.

Well, if the Blue Jays and Bills, both make the playoffs this year, which could realistically happen, then would the Mariners have the title of the longest playoff drought in the "big four"? Since Toronto would have to collapse big time to miss the post season, even having the #2, streak for at least 4 months is embarrassing

And yet, since around August 1st the Mariners are playing pretty good baseball. Too late to make the playoffs.

Too little too late, but if they go 8-4 the rest of the way, at least have a chance of coming out at .500
for the season.

And even that's unlikely. But there have been things worth celebrating in the Mariner's season. Nobody thought that Franklin Gutierrez would play major league baseball again, yet he's got 15 home runs in less than 150 at bats, driving in runs, and hitting over .300. And the resurrection of Tom Wilhelmsen.
Plus, I'm a strong believer in addition by subtraction, meaning having a new General Manager will be a good thing. All the way in 2016! You heard it here first.
