Why would anyone rich and we have a crap load of rich people in Seattle stick around during Oct to March.

I have said it before I have to make money and its pretty good up here but other than that its very depressing in this region. Its crowded, dirty, muddy everywhere, moss growing on sidewalks and the weather makes its hard to leave the house cause the dreary weather sucks the life out of you. And the views are awful , no horizons as far as the eye can eye which lifts the sprits.

I dream of the Southwest everyday.

Please Lord, give me enough money to Leave asap.

I think most of the really rich are only “in Seattle” for tax purposes and spend very little time in the area, except maybe for summer.

None of my wealthy relatives spend more than a passing trip (basically the bare minimum to make it all legal and above board) to Seattle, but maintain it as their primary residence to avoid income tax elsewhere.

Many in the PNW have INDOOR hobbies and jobs, and have the luxury of planning their few intensive outdoor activities during the few 'moisture breaks' (which this yr have been plentiful and mild).

I am surprised at the number of outdoor construction workers who choose to stay. Often I am caked in mud and grime daily (and freezing most of the time outside, even with good quality weather resistant clothes.) When laying in the mud and digging foundations, ditches, post holes all day, you take a beating. Some days you will slip and fall often. (especially pouring concrete on steep slopes). Roofing in the rain is dangerous too.

It was 83F in my central TEX location today. I spent 6 hrs riding backcountry motorcycle trails on ranches. Only got a little wet doing a few river crossings.

EXACTLY!! if it is so freaking bad then move. I have lived in the PNW for 32 years and the rain is NOT as bad as people make it out to be. Plus we have some of the best summers, overall warm and sunny, low humidity.

Not to mention all the beautiful outdoor spaces only a few hours or less from Seattle.

But it has gotten ridiculous as far as cost of living goes. I live in Portland and it's not as bad but getting there.

My father in law lives in Arizona, I visit sometimes and feel like I’m inside a microwave oven I can’t get out of. No thanks, I’ll throw on a sweater here and be just fine.

I agree, here 27 years and love the climate. It makes us appreciate the summer rather than despising it, as I did when living in California, where it could be in the 80s even in April, 105 in September. Besides the green all year here, the rain is most often light enough that we can still do many outdoor activities. Some of our favorite hiking trails are muddy, but the East Lake Sammamish trail is paved all the way from Issaquah to Redmond, about 10 miles. For me the winter is the time to do my indoor hobbies and activities. This year, for example, peeling the last of the popcorn ceilings, painting another 3 rooms, new furniture in the family room, work on some stained glass projects, and bring in a few bonsai to do some pruning.

The northwest is great because you can do stuff outside year round without dying of heatstroke or hypothermia.

If you don't like mud, stay on the pavement. If you don't like rain, buy an umbrella. But make sure you go out or you'll just make yourself more depressed.
