How far is it to get to the airport from Bellevue and Mercer Island? What about Isaaquah?
We need easy access to the airport (not more than 60 mins)...and would like to live in an excellent school district.

thanks!

I live in Issaquah, and make frequent trips to the airport. It generally is a 30 minute drive, maybe 45 with bad traffic (but I can usually use the carpool lane). The airport wouldn't be more than 60 minutes from any of the places you listed unless traffic was really bad.

thank you How are the roads during the winter months? We currently live in Colorado (Front Range)... Apart when we have the occasional snow blizzards, the highways are quite good to drive... what about in your area (going to the airport)? My DH travels a lot and often he has to leave at 3 or 4 am to catch a flight...

All these cities have decent access to the airport but there are parts of all these cities where the access is worse. For example, if you are starting from the South end of Mercer Island that would add 10-15 minutes. From the North end of Mercer Island we allow 30 minutes and take either 405 or I-5 depending on the traffic. I used to work by the airport so that was a concern for us too.

Snow during the Winter is rarely an issue but rain during rush hour can slow things down. It depends a lot of whether you are heading in the "reverse commute" direction.

They're pretty good about keeping main roads clear, though last year I-90 was a mess after our big snow. If you have a car with 4WD you're probably fine. Sea-Tac did close for 2-3 days last year when the big snow hit, but that was apparently very unusual snow that we got (I've only been here 2 1/2 years). We did need chains to get into and out of our neighborhood (we live on a hill) both last year and the year before. We'll see what this year is like.

Default airport

If you lived on Mercer, you could use the car pool lanes on I 90 up to
I 5. Recently I have been stuck behind people going below the speed limit in the car pool lane. I would do a couple of trial runs before buying esp if you are time bound and cannot adjust your flight times.

Keep in mind that people here don't know how to drive in the snow.
