What kind of goal difference would be in our favor?

I'm just hoping for a good outcome against Germany but I just don't know. I'm trying to see what out best hopes are with a loss.

- If the US wins against Germany they will classify first in their group.
-if it's a tie it will classify 2nd, because Germany goal difference is 4 while the USA's is 1.

Ghana goal difference is -1 and Portugal is -4. If the US loses with a lot of goals against them or Ghana wins with a lot of goals the US could lose the second place. Portugal is almost a lost cause. They need to make up 5 goals.

US chances to advance are 100% if the match against Germany ends in a draw

Germany chances to advance are 100% if the match against the USA ends in a draw...

Both will have 5 points, and couldn't be reached neither by Ghana nor by Portugal...

Well, if the match ends in a draw, that will look a little suspicious... Specially when US coach is German...

This Cup has already in the knockout stage exceeded expectations! It's going down as one of the top three ever.

Also the teams are all somewhat evenly matched. No one gets away with a terribly easy win unless its total surprise like holland vs Spain.

This cup in particular is like the worlds first global hunger games/rollerball grudge match in the new 'dystopian' era of drones, economic downturn, etc. Ironic its in Brazil.

The next tie breaker after goal differential is total goals scored, after that it is head to head competition. In order for the US win against Ghana to come into play, The US basically needs to score within 1 goal of whatever Ghana scores in any 1 goal loss vs Ger and any 1 goal win by Ghana.

ex;
Ger 1 - 0
Ghan 1 - 0
US advances

Ger 1 - 0
Ghan 2 - 1
US is done

put another way, the Ger-US and Ghan-Port scores need to be identical for the US to advance based on the US-Ghana victory.

the us team needs to stop thinking this is the NBA or NFL where having no defense is going to win games. sloppy defense, sloppy passing.. Portugal screamed "SCORE 5 GOALS ON US PLZ" yet the us couldn't.

the 2 goals is blamed 99% on Bradley, period. even if the us gets into the quarter finals such sloppy play will get them beat so bad.. theyd wish not to have advanced.

Argentina where embarrassed by Iran and didn't deserve to get the victory.

I think there is a pretty good chance that the US will be knocked out Thursday. The Germans are not going to do us any favour and play for a draw, its not how they do things. Germany are much better than Portugal and Ghana and I think Portugal will get the victory over Ghana. Obviously this WC is full of surprises and I could be wrong but its what I am predicting, I hope I am wrong.

Eh, BarqCide ... there is no way no team will wish they didnt advance. Thats just foolish.

I do think the us/Germany game will be interesting. obviously Germany will score first but that's due to the US starting off slow as usual. they need to focus on DEFENSE these next few days. that and coordinating how to pass since it has been sloppy as hell these 2 games.
