hello im looking to move to north or south dakota or surrounding areas ive been looking for a year and really cannot decide my husband has a fantastic job in dickenson ND he has been there for a year I am an english born girl whos lived in a small town in florida since being a child, i am and expectant stay at home mommy with my 5th child my 4 wondeful wonderful children ages 3 thru 13 looking for a home to raise my family and would love to be involved in volunteering charity etc i do not need a job but cannot decide where to even look any advice would be apprieciated

normally I wouldn't recommend north dakota, however Dickinson is in a very nice area of the state, from a quick look at google maps. Lake right there, some scenic bluffy grasslands to the west not far. Right along the interstate. It's definitely cold there, but better then the east half of the state for sure. I'd say live with your husband, right in Dickinson.

Good # of English folks I am acquainted with that love the Northern Black Hills. Also a lot of peeps in our area that do the 7 days on 7 days off thing between here and different parts of ND.
Just a thought though.

If the Black Hills was too far, I would simply suggest the Dickinson area since there is as much or more to offer there as anywhere in western SD outside of the Hills. I understand housing is a tough to find in the Balken oil region though.

We lived in Dickinson 1975-1980......it is a very nice,friendly community in a very nice part of North Dakota!

Hi thanks guys i would love to live in dickenson but hubby cannot find anything at all there will be 7 of us me husband and 5 kids once baby is born so its a real struggle to find anything near at all especially somewhere to rent (i would prefare to rent first then i can get a feel for the place before i buy) still looking !!!

What does your husband do? As far as North Dakota towns Dickenson is ducky with me. I also don't mind Bismark in small doses.

yes Dickinson is very nice and if you need to find someplace to rent month to month until u can find the 'perfect' place

hi went to Dickenson and basically nothing for rent for less than 4000 a month
