Why the need to be condescending. Summer is coming up and it's a legitimate question I had. Next time you post something I'll be certain to come on attack you for no apparent reason. Should I have you screen my posts from now on? Since you seem to be the self-appointed moderator of what is ok to post.

It is not very common for men to wear tank tops around here...but I also think it's weird that they wouldn't let you in. I agree that Trailhead sucks.

Slow down a bit and breathe. "Threats" aren't necessary. You were raised in Arizona. What's acceptable attire, or lack thereof, in the western states is not necessarily acceptable in the Midwest or south and especially not the further east you go in this country. There are different degrees of what's consider proper or acceptable decorum. In a sense, that does translate into dress codes but they result from an evolutionary process over many generations.

Even as a native of the left coast, my choices and concepts of proper attire were very much more eastern as both my parents came from New York. Over the course of my life I've lived from coast-to-coast and everywhere in between as well as several other countries. Adjusting to all those individual morays was never onerous. It was simply respectful and good manners.

I wear tank tops sometimes when it is hot outside and I've never been turned away from a casual dining establishment (or anywhere else) because of it. I wouldn't try to wear one to Niche or Tony's, but I wouldn't hesitate to walk into a place like (for example) Three Monkeys, Llewellyns or Urban Chestnut wearing a tank top. Maybe they are more sensitive about that kind of thing out in St. Charles vs. the rest of the metro area, or else you just ran into an uptight restaurant manager.

I have no problem with the dress codes being different. I do have a problem when I post a legitimate question, that all but one person has answered with some sort of local insight, and someone responds with "I can't believe this thread even exists". It's being combative and condescending with no provocation. I call people out when they are out of line. I will never refrain from that.

Thanks. Good to know. Like I said it's not going to happen if I go out with the wife for the night. I would not be wearing a tank-top in those situations. But I can definitely see a situation where we were out with the kids for some home tours, or spending the day at Forest Park, and then stopping for a beer and soda at a casual place, and I might be in a tank-top.

As you choose to perceive it. Beyond that, as you will! Personally, I usually find it a waste of emotional energy better spent on more pleasant pursuits. Life's too short for acrimony. But then I'm a bit along in years. None of us always like everything around us, sometimes including the dreaded "rules."

Calm down, I was completely joking. I figured the bear comment would have portrayed that. I think its hilarious because I had friends that used to work at Trailhead and hated telling people they had to change into the generic T-shirt they had for those that didn't fit the dress code. Go ahead and attack me, I'm pretty sure I will recover by being insulted by an anonymous poster on an internet forum.

I think you seem to believe that the "rules" are what riled me up. That could not be further from the truth. I agree that life's too short for acrimony. In my opinion calling out someone's post for no reason is the definition of acrimonious.

Earlier this year someone was flying into STL and posted on here about what the weather looked like. Some poster felt the need to criticize the poster for not just going online and checking the weather reports. I see no purpose in criticizing someone's post. Read it. Answer it if you have something constructive to say. If not, ignore it and move on.

If I took your comment incorrectly than I apologize. It would have been nice and much more constructive if you have initially posted about having the friends that worked at Trailhead. To be honest I did not even understand what the bear comment meant, so clearly the humor was lost on me.

I've never attacked anyone on these boards, and don't intend to start now. I just get annoyed when rather than just ignore a post people feel the need to ridicule the poster. I'll take you at your word that was not your intention.
