Is it pretty lively there in Jan/Feb? Is it TOO cold to lay out on the beach? The wife and I always love it whenever we go, but it was always during the summer. Thought we might try it during a different time of year next time we go.

You're taking your chances during the winter months - but the water is usually cold. We often have temps in the 30s during the winter months.

The winters vary from year to year. I remember the winter of 89 and 90, Dec of 89 was very cold, then from Jan till March of 90 is was very warm. The last two Jan's of 2010 and 2011 was very cold.

So highs could be lows 80's to low 40's in Jan and Feb.

Its often lovely particularly in February, the water can be cold, so make sure you at least stay where there is a heated pool. Sheltered spots are great, some condos have rooftop decks that are real suntraps.

We were there the last week of february this year and temps were around 78-80 most of the week. Water a little chilly, but not bad when your coming from several feet of snow as we were! Hope that helps!

Last two years are what one could call anomalies (if you were to look at Jan and Feb temperature historically). It is chilly but I like to have a walk on those times. Just a walk. Swiming is otra cosa.
