Went to the RNC yesterday and stopped by for the taping of Hardball and don't agree w/ Channelside being characterized like that. I plan on going back when the convention is over.

Channelside now, is what Ybor was in the late 90's. It's the next dead nightspot.

Well, this guy lives in New York. He's a NYC-based blogger. So of course, for New Yorkers, everything sucks, except New York, of course.

Then again, I haven't been to Channelside in eons.

Well since Channelside is getting bought and transformed it doesn't really matter much

Have yet to go to Channelside but agree that they plan to revamp, I'll go there then. Spend some on improving and making the Bay more accessible for walking and it will be nicer in Tampa.
Drive by there everytime I work and to me it seems to be too close to the port docks where broken down ships sit for repair/parts... strip clubs not too far away down on 60 make it iffy for a newcomer like myself.

Many people I work with love going though but they are a younger group.

Just love visiting Bayshore Blvd the miles long walkway on the Bay is tops!

All Channelside needs is a good PF Changs, a Senor Frogs and maybe an Affliction Clothing chain and it'll be fine. That place is a total hoot. Is there a Harley Davidson store there yet? Needs one of those too. YEEEEEEEHAWWWWW!

I had the same feeling when I visited Miami's Bayside Marketplace. I was there on a weekday morning, so naturally it was empty. It had a depressing feeling and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. On the other hand, if you go there on a weekend or weeknight, it feels lively.

I would fully expect Channelside to be depressing on a weekday during a convention which has driven native Tampa residents away from the city.

Any one of these morons poking fun at Tampa now is just going to end up moving down here when they're older anyways.

They fit right in with the locals that also spend their lives whining and complaining about everything in Tampa. BFD.
