The post wasnt intended to be sarcastic it was merely an attempt to help you in your confusion as to what lane you are supposed to be in for any given circumstance.

That is called Nestoring. Dr John Nestor back in the 1970s and 1980s back when the speed limit was 55 on all freeways, he wold go 55 in the fast lane to teach people a lesson. Traffic reporters could not figure out what was causing the slow down on the beltway, until he wrote a letter to the editor of the Washington Post lecturing people on speeding etc

In Florida, no such lane exists. We have a fast lane. This simply means that you can ride in the left lane as long as you like. If somebody is coming up behind you going faster, you are supposed to move over to the right and let them through.

It seems the new thing to keep driving next to another car (especially when there are 3 lanes and many construction trucks are doing it) as over the last few weeks it seems that way.

Exactly, and it would be nice if this would get enforced. In Georgia, they have a slowpoke law and they actually WRITE TICKETS to those who fail to move over accordingly. It would be great to see that happen here.

Oh, Florida has the law. They have fancy signs all over the interstate telling people about the law. They have zero police enforcing it.

The thinking behind the law=State: A passing act
Agreed with the virtual zero enforcement.

No more speeders,tailgaters,leftlane campers etc
yes, perhaps in 2025.

LOL, No, you misunderstood, MY post (which lane is the passing lane) was being sarcastic, not yours!

I'm well aware of which lane is for passing. When I was 18yo as a relatively new driver I was in the left lane on the New Jersey Turnpike by Newark Airport at night. A car drove up behind me and tailgated me and after a 1000 ft or so started flashing his high beams. I didn't pull over right away, and the next thing I know I see flashing red lights in my rear view mirror. It was a State Trooper; he pulled me over and gave me a ticket for failure to keep right; Except to pass.

There are signs all over NY/NJ with the slogan; "Keep Right Except to pass" and it is heavily enforced by the troopers.

I learned my lifelong lesson very well indeed.

I just wish it would apply to Florida / Tampa drivers!!!
