It does taste like chicken but a little tougher. I haven't tried any lately but several restaurants serve it as an appetizer.

We had an acceptionally bad love bug season last year at least in Naples and Ft. Myers (yeah I know its the Tampa thread). They're harmless just annoying when you eat them, or the get stuck in your hair! They'll also take the paint off your car if you don't wash them off. But I kinda think they're sweet.. However too much is too much!! Here's my house last year around June ..

I have to say, I hate those love bugs also. Forget eating outside during those months. Nope, no nice beachhouse dinner for my Birthday! I can handle the creepy crawly palmettos, just not the flying ones. They fly right at your face, and don't even think about wearing white! Is there anything that repels them, standard bug spray maybe?? I tell ya, the price we pay for living in Paradise!

Yea, alligators are EVERYWHERE in FL. If you move here they will eat you and your pets and children. Do not move to Florida if you want to be safe!!!

Default They were here before we were!

You live in Colorado, well in Colorado you have rattlesnakes. Here in Florida we have rattlesnakes and other reptiles.

The simple fact is this, they were here before we were. If you move into a home that infringes on their territory you will have to deal with them.

Simple solution, don't buy a house in near a lake or river. Like all the others here have said, if there's fresh water theres alligators.

That said, I am a kayaker. I have paddled the rivers, lakes and seashore of Florida. I have never had a serious run in with a gator. Now, if you let your poodle loose to run near a lakeshore or river bank, it's going to get eaten. Plain and simple.

Gators are very common. Have been know to climb a 4' chain link fence. Gators are usually remove free by the state. I would not recommend having a dog aroung water though. Also before you buy check the taxes and Insurance rates BEFORE YOU BUY. If you wait you may be in for a big shock. I hate my home but won't move within Florida because of the taxes. Good luck

This may be a dumb question.. but do you pay more for insurance if you buy a home on a pond or lake due to Alligator risks??? That sounds crazy...Whats an average for home owner insurance and hurricane insurance?
