No offense.
No offense taken. I am from CT. Moved to Indians Rock Beach in 1981 and Tampa in 1989. 97% of my childhood was in the south and most of that was FL. Tampa's not bad though, now Miami....that's a damn shame.

I havent encountered anyone being rude from Tampa at all...of course, I have only visited family a few times a year for the last few years. But lets be fair to some NYers (I'm one and I am VERY nice! lol). I've really never encountered too many rude NYers up here although the last week I have gone into CT twice and both times these elder gentleman were so rude on the road and driving erratically and giving me the finger because they want to drive like maniacs!

Hey, does anyone have any assistance for my last posting?

AMR20, this is a relatively old thread. You gave great specific questions, I'd bet if you posted your own new thread, you'd get a lot of answers. BTW, I noticed your dh has a criminal justice degree. Has he considered federal law enforcement (FBI, DEA, ICE, ATF)? It pays a WHOLE lot better than local. Just a thought.

words that describe a lot of Tampa area residents (Brandon,Riverview,Lithia, Valrico, etc)...smokers, obese, no fashion sense, little dental care. Overall, hicky. I have, however, come across quite a few nice people since moving here, no matter how they've appeared.

Seems to describe Seffner more so than the others.

The biggest differences I've heard are that Fort Lauderdale is more rushed and more congested than Tampa. Having never been to Fort Lauderdale, I can't offer any personal insights.

I disagree .... anywhere east of 95 Ft. Lauderdale is laid back excpet around rush hour. Las Olas is a very laid back street and it's right in the middle od city limits. Now Plantation gets crazy traffic ....

I have not been back to Tampa since 2001.

I haven't been to Ft Lauderale but researched the area and visiting it next month golfing with some friends. I'm checking out Weston, Davie, Coral Springs and Coconut Creek. From "maps live" they all look like beautiful areas especially the golf club communities. In general homes are more expensive in Broward County compared to the Tampa area. Many communities I looked into have higher HOA fees in Broward compared to the Tampa area. From reading posts on the Ft Lauderdale forum, W Davie and Weston seem to get pretty good ratings from peeps and so does Parkland and Plantation. Coral Springs gets mixed opinions, not entirely sure why, guess I'll find out when I get down there. Some posts state that Chinese drywall is prevalent in some of the newer homes in Parkland and Weston areas. In my price range there's definetly more "bang for your buck" in the Tampa area. I spoke with a Ft Lauderdale IT recruiter and was very surprised of some the corporate headquarters in the Broward County area that all offer some nice IT opportunities. Not as good as Tampa but not bad at all. It all comes down to what you're into. And for me Tampa has much, much more to offer. But I'm checking out that area anyway just for funzies.
