we are debating on relocating to the Tampa Area. Any suggestions on good suburbs? we have 2 boys that love baseball still in elementary school for 1 more year. looking for a pool home between 2-300,000. community feel. I currently work as a teachers aid( paraprofessional) in Ohio and started at $17.65 an hour. looking into the school dist web site it looks like that same position may start at 8.00 ouch.. anyone have any school info?

thanks for any help...

Where in OH are you coming from? Baseball is far bigger down here than OH as I recall, but depending where you are coming from, schools can be far different, as well....and maybe not in a good way. (We came from Hudson)

You are correct about the pay. You will make anywhere between 8.00 and 11.00 an hour to be an aide (depending on your experience, degree). Starting teachers make 23.00 an hour. So 17.65 for a para is a fantastic wage, IMO.

Does your husband have a good job offer? Or are you just considering moving? Jobs down here are very limited. I can't speak for para's, but Hillsborough county hired only 1/3 of the number of teachers they hired last year. It's not a good year for jobs in education. (or in many other fields).

Also, the entire Tampa area is very spread out. Are you looking to be close to a specific area?

You might also look in the Lutz area....very green, much like Dublin, and some good neighborhoods and great schools.

Inbetween Lutz and Westchase is Citrus Park, home of the Southeast Little League champs --> Citrus Park Little League. Unfortunately, they lost in the semi-finals, but we're all really proud of them any way.
