You think the Maryland/DC area is a desirable place to live? What's attractive about it?

According to Sperlings, Bethesda has worse air and water quality than Oak Ridge.

Did you know Montgomery County now has a Montgomery County Gang Prevention Task Force? It seems like Montgomery County with its 20 gangs and Prince Georges County with its 20 gangs are causing a bit of a problem on the streets and in the schools these days. Police estimate there are 7,000 gang members in the DC area. These are the Montgomery County gangs:

ROCKVILLE: MS 13 (SL), Lincoln Park Crew (LPC), Sangra Pura (SP)

BETHESDA: MS 13

SILVER SPRING: MS 13 (SLSW, PVLS, LPS, FLS, TLS), 88, Vatos Locos (VL), Street Thug Criminals (STC)

WHEATON: MS 13, (SLSW, FLS), Street Thug Criminals, Bloods, Crips, Vatos Locos, Mara Locos (MS)

GERMANTOWN: MS 13 (WDLS), Friends of Crips, 612, C-Hill, Q-Woods (Quail Woods, QDUB), CDUB (Cinnamon Woods), WSP (Warring Station Park)

GAITHERSBURG: MS 13 (HLS, WDLS, CLCS), 612 Crew, Original Killas, South
Side Locos (SSL), Flower Hill Crew, C-Unit, MV Mob (Montg. Village)

And for that, you get to pay more than 4 times the national average for your home and drive in one of the most congested traffic locations.

Would I rather live with the hicks, as you call them, in the sticks? You betcha.

I plan to visit Farragut next week. I'll post some of my own photos when I return but don't plan right now to spend more than a day in that particular town. Here are links:

I grew up in Oak Ridge but have lived in Farragut for over 15 yrs. Farragut is a bedroom community, most people work in Oak Ridge or in downtown Knoxville. I really like Farragut, lots of shopping and restaurants ,beautiful parks and a very low crime rate.
