Hello mrs1885, We also left Florida a year ago. We lived just up the road from you in Fort Myers. We live currently in Fairview which is in Williamson County which is just out side of Nahshville and love it here. Glad you are enjoying TN as well.

Default Us, too

We moved from Fort Myers about a year ago. Live in north Knox County. It is better than Florida. Then again, anything is, so it is not saying much!

Hi hiknapster! What part of Fort Myers did you live in? We lived off of Daniles Parkway near the airport.

Default Hi...

We lived in San Carlos Park.

We are not in love with this area!

Like I said, it is definitely better than Florida, but we have found that they do not like Yankees. I think that there is a definite backlash.

Glad that you are happy.

Were you there during Charley?

It looks like you are from Mass. So am I. We may be in not the best part of
Tennessee. Where are you?

Hello. I am also in Florida, in the Tampa Bay area (born and raised). My family was originally thinking about moving to Oklahoma City, but after this year's record highs we were less enthusiastic. Also, they have tornadoes so frequently, and yet hardly anyone has a basement!

So, our next choice was the Knoxville area, since a friend of the family is planning on moving near there in a couple of years. My mom and I went up a few weeks ago. We like the West end of Knoxville, towards Maryville and Alcoa. We are going up again next week with my sister. I hope we can find out more about the different neighborhoods this time. We didn't really get a feel for what the residential areas were like last time.

We were impressed with how much more friendly everyone was, and you don't have to drive very far to find a quite country-like scene.

Oh, how are the library systems in Blount/Knox county? Also, can someone tell me if the fall colors will still be at peak between Nov. 3rd and 12th in the Knoxville area?

Thanks so much. And if anyone has any suggestions about neighborhoods in West Knoxville, Maryville, Alcoa, or Farragut, that would be great .

Default Ooohhh, I Can't Wait to Move

I am so happy that you posted your comments! I am looking to move to your area also but more east of you. I just get so happy inside when I think of living there. I too, am a teacher and I would love to have the chance to teach down there. I live in Indiana and people are so cold here. Oh you will find a nice person here or there, but if a check out person at Meijer or Walmart say have a nice day or cracks a smile, I am shocked. We have even had food thrown at us from a drive up window. Good luck in your new adventure!

Sorry you having a tough time here. We are located right outside of Nashville in Williamson County. The Nashville area is much more liberal than the rest of the state. Being from Ma. most of our life with the exception of being in Florida for about 10 years, we have not had any problems at all with anyone. People are so friendly here. We plan on spending a couple of months in the winter back in Florida or Arizona. We would NEVER move back to Florida to live all year round ever again.

The farmhouse I told you about has closed - darn good steal but I missed it by 10min. Linda
Sorry to hear that about that house, but another one, the one that is "meant to be" will come along. Just keep having those garage sales! Well wait, maybe bring some of it up here, there are bunches every Friday afternoon and all day Saturdays! Glad to hear you are doing well.
