Clarksville has two current gated communities and one being developed right now. Monticello has nice walking paths and a clubhouse/swimming pool. Very nice areas.

If you want a little more mountains try RedTail Mountain in Mountain City, TN. it is about 25 minutes from Boone NC and 15 minutes from Damascus Virginia (the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail)

There is a community here (Morristown) called Windswept. You can search for windswept on cherokee i think. A friend of ours from VA purchased some property there about a year ago and look me up there last spring, worth looking into.
