San Antonio definitely has better Tex-Mex, but I believe Houston has the edge on actual Mexican cuisine, especially in terms of variety.
I get out a whole lot. I just don't see what some people see, besides the Hispanic girls in dresses at the Galleria. I haven't experienced a culture shock as a black male from the south here. Houston feels the same as Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida with a coastal twist to me.

You've made it 100% clear you don't get out very much.

Houston's Hispanic culture reminds me of other parts of the South except Miami; Houston just has more Hispanics. I've heard on like 3 occasions from Hispanics (all Mexican) themselves that S.A. has the best Hispanic (Mexican) culture and restaurants in Texas.

To me, I definitely see more of a southern/Cajun/creole/Louisianan/Gulf Coast flair/culture here than a Hispanic one.

But hey, I gotta be careful not to share my experience because folks on here get real offended about this. Please don't bash me for my experience.
No way. Houston metro has more than 2.4 million Hispanics. Houston's Hispanic population is larger than Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, and Tennessee Hispanic population combined. No way is it remotely similar. Nearly 40% of Houston's population is Hispanic. There isn't a city in the south outside of Miami and DFW small or big that makes up that much of a city or metro population. I agree that Houston is like a fusion of Baton Rouge and San Antonio in this department. Also, Miami and South Florida isn't all Hispanic either.

Wow. I've never known people to get upset over an opinion. I've said what I had to say, and I'm done.

San Antonio has different variations of Mexican food it is not just Tex Mex, but ,yes, tex Mex is the most popular in S.A. and throughout the whole state. S.A. And the valley have the best Tex mex. I've eaten TexMex in Houston it was pretty decent.

S.A. is also a major southern city that is predominantly Latin.
