"Dottsy" was born April 6, 1953 at Sequin, Texas.

Jessi Colter did a respectable version of this Dottsy 1975 song.

I just happened to see one of this fellow's Martin guitars for sale on Lubbock's CL today.

"Ted" Daffan was born in Louisiana but lived in Houston in the 1930s. Daffan composed numerous songs but among them "Truck Driver's Blues" and "Born to Lose", a song made famous by Ray Charles.

Clyde "Sonny" Burns, Jr. was born on September 19, 1930 at Lufkin, Texas. He produced several tunes of note as a guitarist. One song he produced was Too Hot to Handle, which became a hit in Texas in late 1953.

Sonny Burns is said to have been a good friend to George Jones. The story is told how Burns and Jones were scheduled to record a new tune by Jones in 1955. Burns failed to show up and Jones cut the song without him. That song was "Why Baby Why" which became Jones' first success on the charts.

Sonny Burns eventually returned to Nacogdoches where he pastored a local church until his death in 1992.

As a young fellow, I remember watching Sonny Burns playing on KTRE TV's Double H Ranch Show at Lufkin in the 1960s. Here's a video of Burns playing behind Hank Huggins, another excellent country guitarist. Movie_0001_zpsaca05832.mp4 Video by High_Plains_Photos | Photobucket

Here's a young lady I just ran across with a good voice. Danielle Simone Bradbery was born July 23, 1996, at League City, Texas. She won first place NBC's 4th Season of The Voice in 2013. She is the youngest contestant to have ever won first place.

1996! My pickup truck is as old as this kid.
