Weird obsession you have with comparing cities in East Texas. But Longview has more character then both of those cities. And I say that since i'm from Longview.

Well more people are moving to Longview then Nac so they must not find it too "raggedly".

Funny to see how the OP is bumping several different threads about Nacogdoches.
Wow, this town is so trending now

I remember I saw lots 'visit Nacogdoches' ads on a Facebook over 3 years ago. That's how I heard about this town. Maybe those ads were placed by OP? At that time I was new to Texas and really decided to visit this town, cause I saw those ads on Facebook so many times. But my car broke on a way to Nacogdoches and I never wanted to try that trip again. Is it really worthy to visit, considering 2.5 h drive from Houston?

Longview is the biggest but run down except on the Loop and parts off Judson Road. A couple of nice areas near 4th and LeDuke too.

Lufkin is just a bunch of chain restaurants.

Nacogdoches is a college town and that pretty much all that stands out about it.

As far as "character is concerned", definitely not Lufkin. The other two are more gritty so maybe that equates to character.

Of the best small towns in Texas, I think Nacogdoches is in the top 5, right up there with Galveston.

You are right Nacogdoches and Galveston are in the top five best cities to visit.
Nacogdoches has a universty approaching 14,000 that isn't including in the city pop which make it similar in city wise pop.Nacogdoche has tall hills almost look like mountains with sprawling business and apartments build on them and at night have several scenic over looks broadcasting the city look and downtown which gives it that big city feel.

I want everyone to see the 3D ANIMATION video of I-69 upgrade on the south end and you tell me which city is picking up the pace. You go to TXDOT.COM and then in the search box put i-69 then go to future plans and you will see the 3-D clip of the upgrade of the freeway and I would to hear the feed back on it.

Now hurry up and search it thanks.
