Tyler is so much more of a city when it comes to the scenery, attractions, quality of life (including medical care), UT Tyler (part of the renown UT system), Tyler zoo (one of the most unique zoos), more museums than Nacogdoches etc.
Tyler is a major hub-city in East Texas, Nacogdoches us just not there yet, may be in the future.

Tyler isn't a regional hub until it has everything around the table.Nac and Lufkin have a list of things Tyler just don't have and people here don't hop in the car for a road trip to tyler Tx lol.

Maybe one day......

As for Scenery ugh......

Tyler should be a part of this discussion (people who read this thread should be informed) as it overshadows Nacogdoches, Lufkin, and Longview combined in just about every area. If there were no SFA univresity, Nacogdoches wouldn't even be on the map. In order for Nacogdoches to be called a "booming" city / regional center, it needs to attract big businesses like Tyler does. Small chain and Ma & Pa restaurants don't count as that. Once school is out for the summer at SFA and the only people left in town are elderly retirees. You're welcome!

The median home cost in Tyler is $138,594
The median home cost in Nacogdoches is $120,783
The median home cost in Lufkin is $129,563
The median home cost in Longview is $132,700.

That's funny... even small podunk towns such as Lufkin and Longview have higher real-estate costs than Nacogdoches. That should tell you something.

This is directly from Wikitravel:

Tyler - Tyler travel guide - Wikitravel

Nacogdoches - Nacogdoches travel guide - Wikitravel

According to Wikitravel, there is absolutely NOTHING to do in Nacogdoches except for: Lanana Creek Trail.

Tyler:
Caldwell Zoo

The Discovery Science Place

Hudnall Planetarium

Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge

Tyler Market Center

Tyler Museum of Art

Tyler State Park

Tyler is flat and made sure I-20 stayed north of the town to avoid major growth lol lol lol OK.

Tyler is a retirement town that shut down at 10 pm lol.
Tyler needs a freeway system not two lane toll road around town lol.
Tyler has to cover every chain like Houston or Dallas for me to call it a city lol.

You must have never been to a city lol and for the record a city don't have just one small again ONE MALL kmsl.

I like Tyler but being overrated to take from other cities makes me laugh .

Why are you so fixated on constantly posting negative (and often inaccurate) stuff about Tyler?

Temporarily closed. Let's take a breather and reflect on things to be thankful for - like having a choice of where to live, and having a place like City-Data where we can express our opinions and share facts/ideas.

The local forums are not the place to advance agendas about a particular location. As is evidenced here, such campaigning inevitably devolves into off-topic, personal bickering and dissuades other members from posting constructive content.

Alternatives include City v City for prolonged debates, or the blog feature for mostly unchallenged assertions of personal opinion.
