Perhaps because they're not the "dumps" you make them to be.

This is sort of an example of the Austitude that is so annoying to other Texans.

Made up, oh really? Put both Houston and Dallas up against Austin and see who comes out ahead. Cost of living, business opps, entertainment, sports, world class shopping, overall transportation, dining options, diversity, the rich and powerful, etc etc. I haven't made anything up sir. Even San Antonio can waste Austin in a lot of areas. I am simply saying that Austin couldn't possibly measure up to Dallas and Houston, so why do so many people bash places like that. Jealousy? Overall Angst?? I dont know.

Plano is the richest city in the country with a population over 250K. FACT

Where does Austin rank??? hmmmmmm????

He is a snob. He wants to live in McKinney or Frisco or some place like that but is stuck in an Austin suburb. And because he is miserable, he makes up stories about Austin.

Collin county is one the top 100 richest counties in the US. Good for them!

I agree. Austin will never be what Dallas is. And I will wait for the Austitude to come out and say "THANK GOD AUSTIN ISN'T LIKE DALLAS"
Don't forget the Austitude being annoying to many Californians as well!!

Jeez. The Dallitude is just as bad, if not worse than the Austitude on this thread. I'm SO glad I decided to move to Houston over Dallas.

eepstein - You're mistaking money for quality of life or worthiness. They are very separate things.

Seriously? They've been hyping Austin for years. It's become a parody of itself.

Honestly, it's impossible to say which city is the best because there is no objective measurement. It's entirely subjective. I may hate living in Texas, but I am not blind to the good aspects of life here, regardless of the city, as other people seem to be.

Great post! I completely agree with everything!... well, except for I love living in Texas. I can see why people would like Dallas even though I'm not sure I would ever chose to live there.

Austin is one big massive horse dump. Houston and Dallas are paradises.

Where are you located in Dallas? You seem to hate it there.
