I traded in my 97 V6 Camry yesterday, only had 119,00 miles, but I wanted something newer and red Got an 2009 4 cylinder. I love Toyota's!! Hope my new one does as good on gas as the 97, it was amazing for V6.
Last test I saw was 6.6 0-60 of course it that depends on a LOT of things from the road to how warm it is outside, etc. 5.8 is swift but not fast I don't consider any car to be fast untill it's going 5.0 seconds or less. Then again I used to race go-karts a while back with 250cc engines on them. THAT"S fast! One other thing straight line performace isn't everything. Breaking, skidpad, etc. You can take your v6 Camry on a twisty road & put me in a Miata, you might get me on the take off but once you hit that first sharp turn I'm all over you. Then I'm gone Hp isn't everything it's only a small part of it.
I would think with what power the camry and the mustang have, driven wheels and traction would be less of an issue as neither car will spin the tires much.
The Camry will spin out much easier, since it's fwd..
Even with part throttle (25%) the traction control interrupts..
Who said the Camry is the greatest machine ever built?
It was inferred by your exceptionally defensive of the Camry. You have spouted out untrue facts, rejected anyone else who has offered alternatives. And conveniently ignored when someone has proven you wrong. And by someone I mean me in post #31. If you are in love with the Camry and shut off from any alternatives then buy the car and stop arguing with everyone that doesn't share your infatuation. There is little point of discussion with you as your position is clear and set.

So if the V6 is at 1600 as you say, then the 4cyl would be at 1675.
You are wrong sir. Period.

You missed my point.. The reason why I said the 4-banger will be at 3000-4k is due to lack of sufficient torque at those rpm ranges to keep the car moving at 60mph.. Hence it needs to be revved higher which means more gas waste..
I'm just surprised that Camry is a high 5 second car especially considering it's wrong wheel drive. I would think the Mustang would drive and accelerate much more fluidly because it IS rear wheel drive whereas the Camry doesn't have that luxury.
Wrong wheel drive? If you live in Colorado or anywhere that gets regular snow, a rear wheel drive sports car is out of consideration, unless if it's a second car and not a daily driver. Of course, AWD or 4WD is best. Closest thing there is to a Camry but with AWD is the Subaru Legacy.
