To me Toyota made some good cars from the late 1980's till about 2004.
Since then it's all downhill.
My brother had a 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS sold it and this month purchased a 2004 Lexus (the 8 cyl. model - sorry forgot the model name). He looked at the new Avalon and saw the lack of quality.
You do realize that Lexus and Toyota are the same brand right? Toyota is the parent company.

I completely agree on this. Toyota WAS excellent, but then just went downhill around 2005. I wouldn't touch an 06-present model. Pure crap.
Toyota makes EXCELLENT vehicles, probably the best in the world. This is definitely a problem, but NOTHING like the recalls over the years from the Detroit 3!

Well, actually, scratch that. I wouldn't be able to because the dealer has to decide if you're worthy enough to purchase the car. Give me a '91 Lamborghini Diablo for 1/5 the price that would look better and go faster.

And break down 5 times as often and cost 5 times as much to service each time it ends up in the service bay -- which will be frequently.
Regardless, I just don't know if I could bring myself to pay 350 grand for any car, much less a Lexus. Well, I guess I'd pay that much for a Veyron if I had the cash to spare, but that's about it. But alas, a totaled Veyron is probably worth more than 350 grand.

A well-maintained Diablo is actually a pretty solid car, contrary to popular myth, and leaps ahead of the previous Countach. It's not a Lexus, but not much worse than your typical exotic. It's chain-driven (no belts), and service is much cheaper than the comparable Ferraris of that era (355, Testarossa, etc). My buddy has put 40k miles on his '94 VT and the only time he had to take it in other than basic service was for a failed thermostat and O2 sensor (under $1000 combined for the fix).
The '91 Diablo has touched 207 mph on the Nardo test track and 19 years later this overhyped/overpriced Lexus can't touch that.
Nothing compares to a Toyota built vehicle. They are simply amazing.
I agree.
This thread is all about the Detroit diehards praying that this Toyota flaw will be the salvation of the domestic car companies...two of which wouldn't even exist today if not for massive infusions of tax dollars.
Don't hold your breath(s)!
