I'll be in Tucson from Boston next week from Thursday-Sunday. Thursday and Friday are all business for me, but is there to do on Saturday and Sunday. I'll have a car so traveling a few hours isn't a big deal.

I'd like to try a Sonoran Hot Dog (don't worry, I read through that thread already), but I'm lost on what else to do.

I'll find nightlife on my own, but am open to suggestions. What I'm REALLY looking for are things that are uniquely Tucson. Things I won't find/ be able to do anywhere else or at home. I know this is vague, but I'm open to anything. I'm an urban planning enthusiast so anything to do with architecture is great. I also love trying new foods, so anything (aside from the Sonoran Hot Dog) along those lines would be cool too.

I appreciate any help, I'm going to go browse through the threads and see what else is already out there.

Thanks,
lrfox

Thanks for the replies, 4th Avenue looks to be THE place to go in town and I can't wait to see Sabino Cavern and Mt. Lemmon.

Speaking of Mt. Lemmon, what is the weather like up there this time of year? I've read that it's "cold." but how cold? I was just outside here where it's 28 degrees and breezy. That's "chilly" for us, but not too cold. Anyway, I'm just wondering if it's too cold to summit?

Thanks a lot, between the links and the added advice here, I'll have plenty to do.

Ha-ha, you got a bit of a mish-mash going on here! We have Sabino Canyon and Kartchner Caverns.

It won't be too cold on Mt. Lemmon for YOU! The problem is that when it snows the road gets promptly closed. There's a ski lift there, but neither I nor anybody I know has ever met a person who has skied on Mt. Lemmon and how they'd get there is also a mystery...

You're welcome. Don't hold your breath for 4th Ave, though... I'd imagine it'll look like a joke to anybody coming from a European-style city back East. I believe you mentioned you were interested in architecture, so the barrio houses and other historical buildings in another part of downtown (North of the City Hall) may be more interesting to you. I’d also recommend

Old Town Artisans in this area.

Make sure you have a back up plan. I've been to Boston many times and our downtown hardly compares. Fourth Avenue is fun for about 20 minutes.
