The problem with Doc Martin (well, other than the policeman, who bores me) is the predictability of Doc's relationship with Louisa, as seen in the last few seasons: He's passionately in love with her, and she loves him; but he has severe emotional problems and drives her crazy; she leaves him, then he saves her life of they go through a trauma together, and she takes him back. I think Doc Martin wants to change so that Louisa will stay with him; but I'm not sure that he can. It has been shown that he is capable of showing affection for the baby; but perhaps that is only because the baby is too young to understand.
It will be interesting to see how they end the series.
I have seen scattered episodes....someone loaned me Season 6...don't want to say
too much about it. Too good!
I decided to try the library and start from scratch!
I did see a random scene on TV with his mother where she tells him
what she really thinks of him being born and what that did to her life....Whoa!
Could anyone truly say that to their own son?
Only a true narcissist.
The final season (or so they say) is airing in the UK right now and will be airing here "soon" . . . in the winter I believe, 'tho so far I don't know exactly when. I'll have to check that out. That will be Season 7. PBS has been running somewhat random prior episodes since Season 6 ended. I'm so ready for Season 7. I keep hoping against hope that it will survive beyond Season 7 but that's probably too much to expect.

His mother is quite a piece. But in a lot of ways she was the way priviledged mothers were. That's the thing about Martin. Despire all the rudness and putting off people, there's a little boy who still wants someone to actually love him inside.
By the way I still can't believe it's shown in the USA
It's shown worldwide, with either dubbing or subtitles. I read that on one of the Doc Martin websites . . . can't remember exactly which countries. It's hugely popular.
