If we know anything about drama, we know that the priest will somehow save Ragnar's life, or save his son or something..Ragnar will then say "You saved me brother..You have earned your freedom!"
Hold the cheese please.
But it's still a way better show than Mtv's "Baby mamma drama" that my gf tries to make me watch.
Sort of. With so much good land many many poor farmers sailed to west England and settled in what became the Danelaw. They might have raided or not, but primarily they were farmers, and with land you didn't have to go raid they were just farmers. The Danes are a signifigant part of the genetic heritage of the western and northern part of the British Isles. Studied of gravesites have shown that even early on, migration soon followed, and burials with mixed symbols of Britons and Danes/vikings are common, so also did intermarriage.
Christianity did spread but it was the land and the chance to live without the hard scrabble of life on northern farms that tamed them far more.
I'm suspecting that the priest will find need to defend the children and some inner warrior will come out.
Not me! I really like this show. I like watching how Ragnar had leadership abilities before but now especially after he killed the Earl. He seems like a very smart leader of his men and aware of his enemies...of course, he doesn't seem to see that his brother has a bug in his bonnet. I don't actually know how accurate it is but I DON'T CARE.
This is a drama...yes, it's on History channel, but I don't have to nitpick it to death to enjoy it. I also like the scenery and the overall vibe of that period of time. The children are interesting to watch and the slave has had an interesting role as well.
I'm not going to lie: Ragnar and Rollo are very nice to look at. OK, that's the last shallow thing I'll say... until the drooling starts next week!!
I really like the "priest" (the English monk)and now I'm worried since I saw the previews for next week
My only problem with the show is that I think there is some sloppy editing, making things seem choppy. It's fine when they jump ahead a few weeks or months, but it might help if they throw some words on the screen or some indicator that they've jumped ahead in time. And with the whole Siggy storyline; I feel like I've missed something. I rewatched a few episodes (since Haroldson's death) to make sure I didn't miss anything, and I didn't.

I'm oddly finding the "priest" (slave) attractive too. Is that wrong to say?
I forgot to mention, I love how the colors in the show are very "cold" with very little red/orange/yellow tones. It kind of makes the viewer feel cold while watching.
