Oh I definately liked frank better than charles . I liked frank because the way he could twist his face . My sister could twist her face like that and my dad hated it ...lol
Charles. Frank just never seemed to be able to do anything admirable; his character never grew. But Charles was different. Yes, he was a snob. But his character really grew during the series. He became more human. And we saw the more human parts of him as it happened - for example, his work with the soldier patient who stuttered, with the soldier who was a pianist who had lost either one of his hands or the use of, etc. And there is a fantastic episode where Lt. Col. Flagg tried to get Charles to spy for him and Charles sets him up (I believe this is season 7 episode "Rally Round the Flagg, Boys).

He wasn't supposed to be admirable. He was condescending, arrogant, and extremely self-righteous. His main plot of the show, was to try and foil whatever Hawkeye and Trapper were plotting.
People may not recall what you said to them, but they will always remember how you made them feel .
