I know of not one of those popular "social media" types. Blah.

Won't be the best of seasons but I will still watch.

Out of the 11 for next season, I've heard of exactly one. And since I taught middle school last year, I figured I would have known (aka heard of) more than that. They must not be very famous, LOL.

I hear that. My first reaction to the posts here (I hadn't seen the cast preview) was: "Oh, for the love of God, not this crap again." Now I suppose I'll have to go watch the cast preview, so that I know what I'm already disappointed about. Although as long as it isn't the Return of Brendon and Rachel, who need to stay off my television for the foreseeable future, I can probably endure.

Edit: Oh. Good. Lord. All social media mavens, all the time! Noooooooo! Someone please make it stop!

We just agree on so much!

I was a loyal Amazing Race fan...until their season. I stopped watching for a couple of years because it just ticked me off! I can't stand those two...I was irritated when Julie Chen thought we wanted to hear their baby announcement this summer on BB. Anyway, if I never see them again it'll be too soon.

I'm disappointed though that they can't come up with regular people who don't have to be famous on TWITTER...REALLY? SERIOUSLY?

Are there really not enough people to cast from that they have to resort to a stupid gimmick? Grrr....

Cast members either apply or are recruited. It seems likely that this cast was all recruited by casting directors scanning through social media. They may be more interested in fame than an adventure.

I think the appeal is that producers like tractable casts, people with media experience, who understand that their job is to put on a show. That's why they recruit so many rather than just pick from the applicants. On his second season, Will Kirby drove production crazy by singing to screw up the live feeds. "Will, please stop singing!" He was not tractable. He was Will Kirby, he had already won once, and being Will, he just didn't give a crap. What were they going to do, kick him off the show? Short of doing impromptu reconstructive surgery on someone's duodenum with a kitchen knife, not likely.

One time, I went on a local fluff talk show in response to an ad for people who had had a certain type of experience. When I got there, and was in the lounge with the other people who were going on, I found that they were all from TV media. The host asked me one question on the air, and only one, and when I watched the footage I could see why. I was wooden compared to the others. I also noticed that, in person, the host seemed like he was on crack, with very exaggerated gestures. On the taping, he seemed completely normal. I guess one has to overact when one is on TV, or one comes off wooden, a thing I did not realize. But it was clear that the producers had just wanted me along so there'd be one more person who could attest to the experience, and that the media-savvy people would do all the talking.

Yawn! Green team leads the whole way.

At least they will be closer next week based on the preview clips.

yea Team Green!!! Just do it. No whining. No crying. They run the race like champs.

The girls, "oh my arm is about to fall off. It's sooooooooooooooo heavy. Whaa Whaaa, no one will give me money."

I detest non elimination legs.
