We watched two episodes so far we like it. A bit slow but so was DD in the start not sure if I'll like it better the DD, not very familiar with her character that might play into it for me. Looking forward to seeing more of the show.
I honestly can't compare this to movies, it is much different and a Nolan/DC tone but with a character that works (Dare Devil was too though.) I can compare it to Arrow and think this is better. Better than Shield but to compare it to Agent Carter and The Flash those are different and honestly, those tones work entirely for those shows. The first episode is AMAZING and I wish to see more but I gotta see Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 (again) before I see Part 2 tomorrow.
Watched all 13 episodes in a row on Friday. It's a purple blur, but I liked it.
Binged watched it yesterday and my only question is, "Where in the hell is season 2!!!"
In short, I really, really like it.
But parents, and make sure your parental restrictions are on because this isn't your kid's Marvel comics, whole lot of sex and serious violence going on. And homophobic Christians, you might think about staying away as well.
One complaint, how could they kill off actors like
Spoiler
Robin Weigert, who just killed the role of Calamity Jane in Deadwood and Lester Freamon who played Det Lester Freaman on The Wire? Two absolutely wonderful character actors.
Only seen the first episode so far. It's okay. The story is interesting, and I love the villain. Jessica herself is hard to like, and the constant narration is really clunky.
One other thing. Maybe it because I enjoy film scores, but I have noticed about both JJ and Daredevil: The music is very meh. It's like Marvel spent all the money and design, writing, and casting, then spent $4 on the music. It isn't bad really. It's just so uninteresting that it is instantly forgettable.
Even in episode 1, having barely any screen time at all, Kilgrave/Purple Man is Marvel's best on-screen villain to date. Seeing the whole season cements that, but how is it that a single 45 minute episode of a Netflix show crafted a better villain than any of the 2+ hour long Hollywood epics with massive inflated budgets? All the nerds seem to cream their jeans over Loki, but he's a nothing villain that just happens to be played by a charismatic actor. David Tennant, an actor best known for playing a walking deus ex machina on a BBC show with a shoestring budget, has more screen presence with his back to the camera than an actor making tens of millions of dollars.
