I think you're basically right.. I feel 5 seasons is about where Gilligan likely plotted the show out.
The whole 'split season' thing.. Again, all depends on point of view. The more accurate way of saying it would probably be that BB had 6 Aired Seasons, 5 Production Seasons.
Similar to The Sopranos.. They split that 6th season into two parts. That's considered a 6 season show from a production standpoint, but it aired over 7 seasons. (And seemingly 40 years)
It would not surprise me to see the same thing here. BCS's 5th production season having 12 or 14 episodes, split over 2 airing years.
Talking about Gene again.. I've been trying to tie a thread together between the cut scenes.. Like if Gene's arc were somehow to relate to or follow Jimmy's.. And, yes, I realize I'm speaking about them as if they were different people, but.. They kinda are.
If they hadn't started doing the cut scenes, then I'd agree with you.. I wouldn't say I need to know the final outcome on Gene.. But.. They've done it.. Can't unring that bell.. So, now I want to know. We'll have explored the before, middle and after of Jimmy/Saul/Gene.. So.. Complete the story.
I agree. We pretty much know the fate of the characters in BB, so I would like to know the fate of "Gene". I also agree that I don't want to know anything else about the lead characters in BB. I doubt that Vince would revisit them.
It looks like Kim is starting to see Jimmy for who he really is. I think what happened with Mesa Verde is really starting to wear on her conscience.
Also, I'm calling it. Kim is going to leave the law firm with Jimmy and get a job with Schweikhart & Coakley, the firm that had offered her a job in season 2. What clued me in to that was in the previews for the next episode, it showed the copper mugs that a "Moscow Moose" drink is served in, which is Scheikhart's favorite drink. It showed 3 of them clinking together as if to say "cheers" over something ( probably Kim going to work for them )
