Well, at least they said a 'short' bout with cancer...so it was fast....I can only hope I go fast.
I was shocked, too.....4 decades on Gen Hosp...wow. Rip, Bobbie.
Fifty year viewer here, although I no longer watch. At the nurses ball this year, they had a tribute to Jackie....so I guess they knew, she was not well. GH was great back in the day....
In the last few years Bobbie was reduced to propping Carly every time she was seen onscreen, which is not a good look for anyone. I wanted Bobbie to have more of a personal POV in her scenes, but instead it was Bobbie telling Carly what she wanted to hear, and Carly deciding to do whatever she wanted with or without the advice of her mother. Bobbie was, unfortunately, a minor satellite orbiting Planet Carly....but then, that's a crowded section of outer space right now.
The character of Carly has always been a hypocrite, but in the past year we've been force-fed the idea (from virtually every character, not just Bobbie) that Carly is a wonderful person that everyone should adore. Bobbie, more than most characters, has a stack of receipts on what her daughter is all about, but the current writers seem invested in placing Carly above any sort of criticism, no matter how blatantly obvious it is that she's in the wrong and ought to show some sort of contrition over her behavior toward others.
I watched yesterday for the first time in a couple of years. It was nice to see Mac and Flecia.....they both look the same, as does Michael. Maurice (Sonny) is not aging well IMO. I found the show boring, and will be another couple of years before I tune in again. EX fan of over 50 years.
