I don’t think that will happen and if it reaches that point, expect the national guard on every street corner with tanks enforcing martial law. It may happen in certain cities for example Baltimore but there’s always been cases of looting and robberies so it may depend on the area.

Default Stimulus Bill Just Passed- Who qualifies for these enhanced unemployment beneifts?

Reading but cannot find it. Yet the specifics might not be released yet

I've been on unemployment 7 wks now. I wasn't laid off due to COVID-19 yet wondered if I qualified for the extended 13 weeks and/or the 600 extra per wk + regular benefits. Thanks

There are unique situations with this stimulus plan that are not addressed. What if you file, married-filing separately? There are a few other situations. Hoping someone familiar can chime in.

I don't really get how this plan makes sense for displaced service workers who are a majority of those who will be out of work.

$600 per week federal + state UI = roughly no less than $20 per hour.
That's more than most people are making working.

Why would anyone choose to get off this and resume work for the next 4 months?

During the 2008 crisis the fed gave us *30* a week.

I am one of those who are SOL.

Only those who have been laid off directly because of COVID-19 will be granted extensions on their unemployment benefits

Those who were already collecting unemployment benefits prior to COVID-19 layoffs and those whose unemployment benefits have been exhausted wont get additional weeks meaning extensions granted on their claim

It sucks I know but life isnt fair!

It’s economic stimulus. Those are the same people that will spend every dime of that money.

I would apply and try to make the case anyway. The system is completely overloaded right now and things are just falling through the cracks left and right. I just had a letter that came in from someone I termed for cause (attendance) 6 weeks ago!

It used to be shown on GovTrac however everything is on steroids now so it will probably be a while.

I believe the info provided here is correct, at least here in California.

There is no 12 wk extension of benefits for those who were not laid off due to Coronavirus. That makes sense as I've already received 7 weeks of benefits so it's understandable they don't want to extend it so I benefit more than the Coronavirus victim that was forced to be laid off.

However, this virus quarrantine and shut down does affect everyone. Thus it seems logical that all unemployed individuals receive the $600 extra per week.

ALL of the unemployed who pay into the system are forced to remain unemployed. Since this is technically insurance, not needs based, I can see this being a very plausible conclusion. They had to hurry it thru so nothing will be perfect. I feel fortunate to be able to get unemployment at this time no matter what. Some workers will not qualify, others are forced to attend jobs where they feel un-protected from the virus forced to work with the public yet they get no extra funds for that higher level of risk
