It is a high cost of living area and that will not even cover half of rent in many areas. My understanding is that it covers up to a set percentage of your income like worker’s comp. A person making $15/hour might not see this full benefit, but a person who made $75k in Florida where unemployment benefits are low might.
This is how I understood it. My fiancé has not worked 40 hours a week since last fall. Our state max is $400-500 per week, so it never made sense to file because he made the minimum working two days. But if they add the $600, he is definitely filing for the difference.

I haven't been laid off yet though it seems it will happen soon whether its next or two weeks from now, would I qualify? The company I'm working for is impacted by the corona virus.

The article provides answers

This if it is true says those who have exhausted benefits will be eligible for additional 13 weeks.

It’s proposed retro to 1/27. Cross your fingers they approve the bill.

Administration of this is going to be an unmitigated cluster**** of unparalleled proportions. I would not count on seeing a dime for at least a month.

I hope this is accurate. I filed a claim on 2/9/2020, but it had nothing to do with COVID-19. It would make sense to include all on UI, regardless of when the claim was started. We are all facing the same employment hurdles in regards to current events. It would also be potentially easier to execute, although knowing the government, everything is complicated.

I just wonder how tough it will be when this blows over. So many people potentially looking for work, unless they are able to go back to their previous employer.

It isn't law yet.

It only passed the senate last night. The house will vote on the bill tomorrow. Then Trump has to sign into law. Many hurdles still to go.

You file for unemployment like usual. Unemployment insurance pays the base benefits. The bill will increase the size of the benefit (I heard by $600/week).

So curious, my son worked part time 4-8 hours a week. Place got shut due to crisis. Did not make enough to file unrmployment but from reading it now he can file and make over $600 a week because basically anyone laid off for virus can get unemployment for 4 months ,? No matter if freelance or part time etc
