Nj unemployment employees should be fired at the Camden Unemployment Center. And make them collect unemployment. On 7/14/2010 they made myself and about 60 or more people stand in line for about 2 and half hours to obtain a ticket to see a claims agent. No one knows why they shut down for that long. I finnally get up to the first desk the lady askes my ss#, I wrote it down for her and she reads it out loud. I wasn't to happy about that. Then I asked her why Im not reciving my check because Im only on tier 1 and I still have money in my account. She told me I didn't call on my Date given, although I did. Then she tells me my year is up and I have to make a new claim. I told her I am on an extension. She told me it doesn't matter. I told her that I am aware of the Umbrella effect that the fedral goverment put on all claims that extensions run out untill the new bill is passes for extensions. Which is that if your extension runs out after june 2 and they pass a bill then your benifits will be retroactive and you will be passed to the next tier. Ok she denied everything I told her and asked me who's feeding me this bull****. yes she did!! she repeated herself about filling a new claim. I asked her if I can speak to a claims agent. ( mind you shes only there for simple questions and to hand out tickets to see a agent) She dienied me a chance to see a agent. She then looks back at a Camden Cop and he told me She answered your question and that I;ll have to leave. Then he escorted me out. Well to find out after to talking to people out side she did the same thing to all of them. Denied us our rights to see a agent and kicked them out. We were so shocked of what just happened, our heads couldn't get around it. I so wish I got names because they treated us like pure ****!!!! and reading on unemployment website the crap she was saying didn't even apply to me. Did this happen to anyone else?

NJ sends no letter informing you that your one-year anniversary has passed and that you must recertify. It assumes that when you receive a non-negotiable check you will call the system, determine the need to recertify, and do so.

But until your do your one-year recertification by telephone, you will not receive any further payments. The system will acknowledge that you called in (or logged in), it will credit you for the time, but it will not release another payment until you re-certify.

You simply call in, explain that you have passed your one-year anniversary, the agent will ask you some questions, if you have not worked enough in the past year to qualify for a new claim, the agent will reopen your existing claim and release any payments you may have on hold in the system.

If it makes you feel any better -- everyone stumbles upon the need to recertify at one year. The only advance notice most people have is from family, friends, or contacts on public message boards like this.

Erm she WAS right, you were wrong - your first benefit year ended and EVERYONE in that position has to file for a new claim, as diorgirl has posted. Everything else you said doesn't matter UNTIL you file for that new claim..........

The folks at the UI offices down here on The Shore aren't any better. I can't give you a detail account of my encounters without using language which would get me banned. Next time I have an issue, I'm going in there with the video recorder on my cell phone ready. Someone will either lose their job, or get utterly embarrassed on YouTube. Privatization of gov't works sounds like a great idea to me.

I just filed for my Tier 4 this past Thursday and it processed like normal. Does that mean I will get a check or is it on hold until Congress passes the extension?

Also can someone explain what EB is versus Tier 4. My Tier 4 is for 6 weeks in NJ. What happens after Tier 4 if Congress passes the bill?

since the bill hasn't passed yet, we're not supposed to be getting moved on to the next tier. but we have for some reason..i was moved to tier 2 last week and they're paying me. but after tier 4, you get eb for an additional 20 weeks due to us being at a high unemployment rate in nj.

Just verifying poster above. I should have started EB but was moved to Tier IV, claimed and received benefits as usual.
EB is not based on whether Congress passes the bill. It's a benefit specific to some states, NJ included. Yes, it is 20 weeks total as of today.

stagebear, what happened when you reached a year on unemployment, did they stop you in the middle of your tier and make you call them before it continued or did it just continue? i'm getting close to a year soon

Thanks to this forum, I found out I needed to call in to recertify. Instead of making my usual Internet claim, I called in that week. I spoke to a rep and told her I was at the one year mark. The first person I spoke with didn't seem to understand my issue, so I spoke to someone else, fully familiar with what I was trying to do. She asked me a couple questions, the most important of which was "Have you worked at all in the past year". Whole process took five minutes, she processed my claim and I went on uninterrupted.
