A true steamed pudding is delicious as are their savoury counterparts like steak and kidney pudding and steak and ale pudding, I can remember my mother making them then putting a puff pastry lid and finishing them in the oven .. Yummm !!!

Availability of beef suet is limited here in the US although I have found veggie suet so may give that a go.
Not available here in OZ either.

Dizzy, no-one's mentioned haggis as yet!

I guess they are currently in season.

Is that the breeding season? They're quite difficult to catch then but a large butterfly net helps.

Don't they come out of hibernation between Christmas and New Years?

I'm not sure, but I'm told that they are at their peak of taste around Burn's Night in mid January.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. I guess no one here will be attending a gathering at which the stuff is eaten. Haven't heard from anyone yet.

I will eat it, but I can take it or leave it. Lots of B & B's serve it with breakfast. Might go to a Burn's night this January, and I would definitely eat it then! Neeps, tatties & haggis and whisky!
