I am not sure English/British food is good for export. Pasties for me are a more a snack than a meal, and they are a bit like marmite, you álmost have to be grown up with it to like them. As about "coming from Germany" I belive that we should be open about things and accept different views, wherever they are from, and discuss them.
That could be the sort of stereotypical view that we need to escape, the trouble with 'stereotypes' is that they are notoriously hard to escape, bad stereotypes in particular. Of course not everybody is going to like a Cornish Pasty (just as one example) but this guy has proven that it is food 'some' people really enjoy (like all food), people in the US who haven't grown up with pasties have tried them, some of the people like them, some are not so keen and some of the people LOVE them and his business has flourished, it simply wouldn't happen in a lot of Europe simply because the pasty is British (English) food.

Stereotypes are especially bad when they are just plain wrong. Growth in British food exports to the EU have be at or close to double digit growth for decades.

They have? Then perhaps I am mistaken, it could be that the fact its British food is not generally realised by the consumer? I tend not to worry or notice if the tomatoes I'm eating are Spanish or French. There are hundreds of 'ethnic' European restaurants in the UK (no just European ones), we LOVE trying cuisine from across the globe but its not just cuisine - cars, clothes and just about anything from anywhere, I just don't really see the same attitude towards British coming out of Europe - from the US yes, from Australia, yes, from other parts of the world yes, but not from our closest neighbours. Hey perhaps its me though, perhaps I am wrong on this, perhaps I am going by 'outdated' stereotypical opinions, I would genuinely be interested to find out.

Yes, this is true and one of the priomary export-destinations is...
Liquor, Beer, Processed foods, Salmon,Shellfish... lots of stuff, but not much cheese or wine.
Do they not like a nice bit of cheddar in Europe? What do they use for their cheese on toast then? Much demand for jellied eels? Black pudding? Holland's pies?

Well, France is in Europe isn't it? I would think black pudding would be popular. The Spanish like it. I would like to think the French would like a couple of Holland's meat pies, with French fries on the side, and a portion of baked beans...... Followed by spotted dick, and custard for afters. Food of the gods Dentist.
I should say Holland's pies are made in England, not Holland......

In that case, yes you do export wine and cheese, but not to France.
You can get black pudding everywhere in Europe. Black Pudding is just the British name for a traditionel European dish.
