The invasion of that country took place via "Operation Enduring Freedom" by US & UK.
NATO countries were there under the UN Security Council Resolution.

Whilst I am not interested in US politics or the sad mess that are many US cities, I do take an interest in the US election, but only in relation to US foreign policy and defence policy etc, which are policies that efect other countries beyond the US and it's domestic issues.

It's also becoming obvious that it's now in Britain's own interest and well as Europe's own interest to move away from reliance on the US and to move towards increased self reliance and collaboration in terms of Defence and Security, as the future of NATO itself is now an American political football.

US isolationism and it's pivot towards the Pacific are now well documented in numerous articles and news stories, as are some of Trumps comments, although in reality the only difference between the Republicans and Democrats on this issue according to the highly respected 'Economist' is the timescale in which it occurs.

That's not what they said at all.

You should know there is something screwy going on when they start bringing up the death of his son in an investigation into documents. Then they go off on even more unrelated subjects about guessing what would happen in a trial rather than sticking to the facts. Just a crappy partisan hatchet job of intentionally sowing doubt about his competency, not reliable at all.

Indeed and I would grieve for the United States but better Trudeau and sanity than Trump who when his four years are up will have seriously damaged this country both internationally and democratically

Agreed but his followers are ready to believe it. A large percentage of MAGA are forties or older, majority white with a high school education and no university.

Biden's supporters on the other hand are professionals with either college or university backgrounds.

A lot will 0f course depend on the independents and young generation milennials.

Biden is backed to win but the handicaps are of course his age and his VP who would be a heart beat away from the WH

Russia is clearly winning the war. The hold a large portion of Ukrainian territory and can't be moved so again I don't see such a compromise.

Also Ukraine isn't Afghanistan. The Russians left Afghanistan with significantly less casualties than this war. Russia has annexed a portion of Ukraine because they see it and the people in the Donbas and Dontesk region as their own. The war therefore will only end when Zelensky accepts this. Do you honestly see that possible? Again maybe in the future but certainly not anytime soon.

As for the US not in an economic crisis. The US is still gripped by an inflation and cost of living crisis. Inflation is still to high there as it is among other western nations. This is influencing how people perceive their money going to other nations rather than their own country.
Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine cancelled out any right he has to have a say in Ukraine's future. There's not much he can do if the country is admitted to NATO anyway. Go to war again this time with NATO involved? nukes, destruction of Russia as well as the rest of Europe, clouds of radioactive material drifting across the continent, deaths from leukemia and cancer widespread everywhere. I believe the man is still sane enough to take all that into account. He will have to accept that he will be allowed to keep parts of the ukraine with significant Russian populations and that's all she wrote.

Zelensky cannot continue the war if aid from Europe and the US is no longer forthcoming so he will have to accept that reality

Again , the US economy is doing fine, inflation has steadily decreased and unemployment the lowest in decades.

Fox News of course continue to pedal their nonsense that the country is squandering billions on the war and bankrupting the US treasury. Aside from the border issues and this claim the Republicans have nothing worth mentioning in their election arsenal. The US BTW spends more on it's own military by far.

Quite the contrary. His invasion of Ukraine has put him right in the centre of the conversation of that country's future and may very well cast him as kingmaker. Russia has already said that any troops inside Ukraine will be targeted, they have the missiles to strike any location of that country. I expect NATO troops would be targeted as a priority.
