I'm sorry, but I don't miss american food at all, even the vegetables were deep fried & I had to avoid the meat, (growth hormone) & american cheese is terrible.

Microwave popcorn
There's microwave popcorn here... it tastes like crap but it's here.

I don't know if it's only during the 4th of July or if they normally supply it but I got a load of American food brands at Selfridges one 4th of July. There was JIF peanut butter, Welch's grape jelly, Jolly Time microwave popcorn, Aunt Jemima pancake mix and syrup, Hersey's chocolate syrup, marshmellow fluff, Oreos, Junior Mints and a lot of other's I'm forgetting. It doesn't list any of them on their website but my BIL swears they supply it regularly, not just during the 4th of July.

The one thing I always remember to bring back from America is big sourdough pretzels, can be hard to get here. But it is quite difficult because we have most American things here...the only thing I would say is that even when it seems that things are the same they usually taste different - for example yogurt in America is really sweet instead of tart, and baked beans (even though they're still made by Heinze) are completely removed from English ones (possibly the reason beans don't seem that big in the US?).

Sounds like you never left your room while you were here.

Where did you live? The only vegetable I've ever seen deep fried is okra, which tends to be more of a southern delicacy.

And you had to avoid the meat? Did it make you break out in a rash or something??

THat's odd. All of my European friends who come over here want a good, fresh, thick and tasty American steak such as a big porterhouse or t-bone. There's nothing quite like American beef.
