All too often for the same reason that people are so against anything, ignorance of the subject. It also comes to brainwashing that has been done by the "market". Things will have to change as we don't have the resources, mainly water, to sustain the meat industry.

LOL. MMMMM meat.

(Actually our Hindu friends 5 year old ordered a cheeseburger the last time we ate out together. They let her do it to.)

I don't have problems with what people eat, I have problems with what they believe. These two sentences in bold and underlined are what drive me nuts.

It tells me that; #1...they have never visited a farm/ranch/feedyard to know what ACTUALLY happens, and #2...they don't care enough to investigate where their food comes from.

I have invited vegetarians to come and see what/when/why/and how we farm and raise livestock. My cousins ex GF is the only one who has come to see for her own eyes. She drove 328 miles.

Eat what you want, don't bash people for things you don't know about.

I'm proud of what I do, and I learn something every day. I don't respect people who spill BS out of their mouth about something they don't actually know about.

This has been my experience also.

Now I admit I have very little vegan contact / friends etc ( my choice )

But to vegans its their entire identity it seems. They cannot be around a group of new people for more than a few minutes before getting the discussion topic geared to food talk and the fact they are vegan.

I can think of no other group of eaters - people - life styles etc that make this profound assertion so confrontationally more than vegans do. Its their M.O. calling card and they love to play it every opportunity they are given or create.

Not ALL vegans ... just the loud vocal ones whom want EVERYONE within earshot to know THEY ARE VEGAN. Especially when around a new audience.

I rest my case

Actually it's fun to assume, but in reality you seriously don't understand the relationship. My Hindu friends are not vegan. They eat meat, just not cows. I'm an American. I eat cheeseburgers. We get along just fine. They actually laughed at my joke and did not take offense. I'm also not a he. See what happens when you run with an emotional response vs facts?

I've been watching this thread for a while now and it just makes me sad. All the attacking and judging... it just makes me sad.

You're vegan? Wonderful!
You're a meat-eater? Wonderful!
You're a person? Wonderful! So am I!

We're all different -- in looks, education level, religion, skin color, sensitivity, sense of humor... and what we like (and don't like) to eat. What makes us different makes each of us unique, special... and wonderful.

I have a friend who's vegan. We get along wonderfully. She doesn't eat X, Y, and Z. I eat everything in the alphabet, so we eat A through W together. It's not an issue; it's just what we do. And when I bought a new purse that looked like leather but was labeled vegan, I texted her a picture of it and said "I bought a 'you' accessory!!!" before I'd even gotten my credit card back. I was excited to make her proud.

Do I think that some vegans push their way of eating on others? Yeah. But a sushi lover does the same thing to someone who says "ewwww" to sushi. And so does a raw-oyster eater to someone who absolutely won't go there. We're all different, that's all. And, in our own way, we're all wonderful. So keep eating what you like -- and don't eat what you don't like -- and I'll still think that you're wonderful.

Not emotional, your post lacked the above information, and just made it sound like you were being rude. /shrug

Vegans are not vegetarians.

And they ate "mostly" grains and beans. That's not "all".

Was also glad to finally learn the right way to pronounce it lol - VEEgun. I've been saying VAY-gun.
If you don't know what a vegan is, and don't know that you don't utilize ANY animal products, then how can you call yourself a vegan? And if you're not "purely" vegan, you're not vegan.

And this is why I'm against veganism. People adopt a label, because it's "cool", and don't know what it even means.
