Looking at Thousand Oaks as a possible relocation area(I'm also looking at Ojai). So while checking ads and so forth and before actually visiting there(lol), what are the bad areas I can mark-off on a map. Yes i know TO is pretty safe all around, but what are the areas least favorable?

Found a little info on this thread via user_id about 2/5 down the page.

Something for someone not familiar with the area that involves descriptions with street names, or the like... or a link with historical crime data.

thanks in advance

You can use this:

Ventura County Sheriff's Office

To see where most crimes are committed. You can pretty much use the cost of rent to determine the quality of the area. For example, roughly anything under $1,350 or so for a 1-bedroom is going to be in one of the "bad" areas.

I am interested in this thread as well. Visited Ojai as i had heard so much about it.
Thousand Oaks is nicely situated but kinda crowded. Love the name Camarillo,,,,,,
So, basically, i am torn and not sure which i enjoy the most.

Lets listen to the Forum experts?

When I moved to TO and when I was looking for a place just driving around you could get a sense of what the good and bad areas were. I encourage you to do that and during the day and night. I will say it is expensive and most 1 bedrooms are 1500 or could be more especially time you add in the fees.

Born and rasied in TO. The most "ghetto" parts of TO dont even compare to what many might call a middle class neighborhood in parts of LA County. You have nothing to worry about, I will walk any street in TO, anytime, anywhere.

The crime map listed on Ventura County Sheriff gives a general overview. Honestly, I cant even narrow down an area. Some might say be leary of streets off Avenida de los Arboles heading east towards erbs from Moorpark, but even then its not bad at all; and thats coming from a guy who lived off Heatherglow St, two streets over from Cal Luthern.

That's a big help Bighorn911, I appreciate your insiders perspective. TO sounds like a hidden gem.
